Interactive Structures

Interactive Structures is a multi-media learning tool that utilizes digital technology and audio narration to communicate the principles and applications of structural science. The project aims to provide a relatively realistic context for creating a direct relationship between structural analysis theory and its practical application within existing buildings. Interactive Structures divides the study of the subject into the three modules ofBasic Concepts, Structural Systems, and Architects. Each module contains three dimensional computer generated models, animations, graphical illustrations, and text narrations that explain general concepts, definitions, working principles, and structural analysis methods.

The main menu provides access to the Tutorial module, which explains the navigation and operation of the Interactive Structures interface as well as a link to the structures learning center website. The website serves as a forum that provides access to a data bank of terms, concepts, resources, demonstrations, and purchase options for the Interactive Structures DVD or CDs.
